Here’s Jimi Hendrix with The Jimi hendrix Experience performing Purple Haze live from Germany in 1967. The song was originally written in 1966, released as a single and then later included on the band’s 1967 debut album titled Are You Experienced.
Along with other tracks such as: Manic Depression, Hey Joe, The Wind Cries Mary, Fire, Foxey Lady and others, the album helped set the stage for Jimi Hendrix’s widespread success for years to come.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of his death and they’ll be a new album release coming on March 9, 2010 which supposedly has several previously unreleased studio recordings from 1969.
