Researching this single was a bit tough but from what I found, Rock and Roll Christmas was originally released as a single in 1983. The user who submitted the video below to YouTube states 1981 in the description, which may be possible.
The band’s version of Rock and Roll Christmas has long been a Rock n’ Roll Christmas favorite among many and has been included on several holiday compilation albums over the years (I found 5 different album’s myself).
